In the uneventful WAC Tournament semifinal, the New Mexico State Aggies calmly took care of business against the Hawaii Warriors, moving into the tournament final. New Mexico State looked on with glee in the second game, and Louisiana Tech shocked top-seeded Nevada to set up a final that favors NMSU. The Aggies will be the higher seed and a strong favorite to make the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three years, having also reached the Big Dance in 2010.

It was really rather strange – on the first day of the WAC Tournament, two lower-seeded teams won, both by scores of 72-70. Well before fifth-seeded Louisiana Tech beat fourth-seeded Utah State in the late quarterfinal just before midnight, the Hawaii Warriors beat the Idaho Vandals in the early-afternoon lid-lifter at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
